Who are the Whitefield Lions?

We are your friends, neighbors, relatives, teachers, and acquaintances. The Whitefield Lions Club was founded in 1953 and includes the towns of Whitefield, Jefferson, Windsor, and Somerville, Maine. Currently, we have 98 members. However, we are always looking for new members to join our club.

The Lions Club is the world's largest service club organization. There are 46,000 clubs and 1.4+ million members. We're also one of the most effective. Our members do whatever is needed to help our local communities. Everywhere we work, we make friends. Our work helps children who need eyeglasses, seniors who need hearing aids, and folks who don’t have enough to eat.

Many have heard of the Lions Club, but perhaps don’t really know what we do. We are a group of volunteers serving our communities, meeting humanitarian needs, encouraging peace and promoting international understanding through Lions clubs.

Here is a synopsis of what your local club does on an annual basis:  Relay for Life, Windsor Fair, Golf Tournament, Harvest Dinner, Kids Christmas, Fruit Baskets, Gun Raffle, , collect eyeglasses and cell phones, work with the local food banks, purchase supplies for local schools, host vision screenings for school students, and award scholarships to graduating seniors. We participate in the Peace Poster and Speak-out contests with local high school students who have at times gone on to win the district contests. These students make us very proud.  We also support a Leo's service club for high school students.

Whenever our Lions Club gets together, problems get smaller, and communities get better. That's because we help where help is needed – in our own communities and around the world – with unmatched integrity and energy.
